Jared Allen Injures Foot In Playoff Win
Charlotte, N.C. — Panthers’ defensive end Jared Allen suffered a foot injury that may require surgery and cause him to miss the rest of the playoffs.
According to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, there is a “sliver of hope” that Allen can play through the injury but the Panthers won’t know for certain until Allen has an X-ray Monday.
There was no indication that Allen was injured during the game, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Allen “broke a small bone” at some point during the game, but continued to play.
Injuries have taken a toll on the Panthers’ defense with the losses of Charles Tillman and Ben Benwikere, and now they may be without a solid pass rusher in Allen. The Panthers will need to apply as much pressure as possible to Carson Palmer and the Cardinals offense on Sunday, so look for Kony Ealy and Mario Addison to step up opposite of Charles Johnson should Allen be unable to play.
