Zeller hits layup with 0.6 left to top Knicks 95-93

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Cody Zeller made a layup off an inbounds play with 0.6 seconds left to lift the Charlotte Hornets to a 95-93 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

Kristaps Porzingis hit what appeared to be a winning 3-pointer from 29 feet on the ensuing inbounds play, but officials huddled and ruled that he didn’t get the shot off in time.

Nicolas Batum led the Hornets with a season-high 24 points and Jeremy Lin chipped in with 17 as Charlotte reached .500 for the first time.

Carmelo Anthony had 29 points, and Aaron Afflalo had 12 points in his regular season debut for the Knicks, who had their two-game winning streak snapped. Afflalo missed the first eight games with hamstring issues, but started and played 28 minutes.

Porzingis had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
