Panthers Confirm Acquiring Jared Allen From Bears

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have confirmed acquiring Jared Allen in a trade with The Bears, pending physical.

The team made the move in the wake of a hamstring injury to defensive end Charles Johnson on Monday.

According to reports, Jared Allen has 134 career sacks. Officials say that is the most among active players and ninth all-time in NFL history.

The Panthers reportedly gave up a future sixth-round pick in exchange for Allen. Allen, 33, has been to five Pro Bowls, according to officials.

Johnson injured a right hamstring injury on Sunday when the Panthers played the Saints. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Johnson will be out at least through the October 11th, probably longer.
