Panthers Notebook – Friday, 7.31.2015
Cam Newton, Mike Tolbert, Michael Oher, Thomas Davis, Shaq Thompson & Roman Harper meet with the media on Friday before the team’s first practice at training camp.
QB, Cam Newton on the Locker Room
“The vibe in the locker room is changing in a good way. I’m not taking shots at nobody, but I’m taking shots for us. We have got guys who are playing for each other and that know their role.”
FB, Mike Tolbert on the RBÂ situation
“We don’t need the name-power. We are still a stable of running backs. We may not be at the Kentucky Derby; we may be at the Delmar Fairgrounds but we are some horses back there and ready to roll. We are all healthy. That’s the main thing, we are all healthy.”
OT, Michael Oher on the LTÂ position
“I’m just trying to win a job and prove myself by getting better as a football player. In the NFL, every year you have to prove yourself. For me personally, I have to get some things done. I have to work hard and be the best player I can be.”
LB, Thomas Davis on the energy of the locker room
“I feel like there’s a different energy because we feel like we are a much better team that we have been in the past two years. And with the additions we have made to this team we feel like its going to put us in a better position.”
LB, Shaq Thompson on playing catch up
“I didn’t get a lot of reps in OTAs just because of the whole week I missed. I’m playing catch up and playing mental reps. Football is football. It’s just about how hard I’m willing to work in the playbook to get caught up.”
DBÂ Roman Harper on the secondary stepping up
“This front seven is one of the best. Not only front seven, but front ten or eleven, we are very deep. These guys deserve the praise. All I am trying to say is we are trying to make this defense better and complete it. We don’t want to win in spite of (the secondary). We want to be a part of that cause and effect as well.”
