Library Celebrates Money Smart Week with Comedian Colin Ryan

For most people, personal finance is no laughing matter. Often, it is something they would rather not think about, but comedian Colin Ryan tackles this subject with humor and practical wisdom. On Sunday, April 19 at 3:00 PM, the Florence County Library System kicks off Money Smart Week® with a special performance by Colin Ryan at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library. Ryan’s show, called “A Comedian’s Guide to Money,” blends stand-up comedy, storytelling, and pop culture to bring fun and learning to the topic of personal finance, a subject that is often considered boring or intimidating. The speaker, who lives in Vermont, has performed all over the United States and internationally, using humor to speak to all age groups about how to reinvent their relationship with money and start on a path to reach their financial goals. He has spoken to over 50,000 students and adults to date and was named one of America’s top 10 presenters to youth by the National Youth Involvement Board. This program and related financial literacy programs and resources are made possible by a grant from Smart investing@your library®, a partnership between FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association. The Friends of Florence County Library are administering the funds for this grant. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
