Carolina (Sept. 15, 2013) To help tackle the fight against colon cancer, a fundraiser will be held at The Boathouse Bar & Grill on Saturday, September 21st, for Terry Hunt, when doors open at 11:00 a.m.Terry, diagnosed at age 46 with stage 3 colon cancer, has been a lifelong community supporter and he is at the halfway point of his chemotherapy treatments. Terry and his wife, Carol Bourne-Hunt, also community minded, are both self-employed. Although the family does have health insurance, plans for self-employed persons are at a higher cost and cover less. To date, the uncovered medical bills are skyrocketing to over $25,000 and climbing. Both being civic minded persons and their faith for Terry becoming a survivor, Terry and Carol wish to donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society‘s “Relay for Life”, to help further the research efforts of colon cancer. Their daughter, Maddie Hunt, age 12, is following in her parents footsteps. She spent most of her entire summer volunteering for the American Cancer Society and The Father‘s House Food Bank. Maddie is slated to kick off the “Touchdown Concert”. This fundraiser is a family event that will feature a Kids‘ Zone with a carnival atmosphere, Rival Corn Hole Tournaments beginning at 3:00 p.m., the Football Zone and a Game-Day Buffet, a Freestyle Dance Showcase followed by the Touchdown Concert. Donation tickets are $25.00 for adults, $20.00 for high school students, $15.00 for grades 4 through 8, children in grade 3 and under are free. A paying adult must accompany all under-aged children. The day will begin with all your favorite college football teams playing on some of the largest screens along The Grand Strand and a lot of dancing. Denise Richbourg, Mission Delivery Manager for the American Cancer Society, will speak about the “5 Myths of Colon Cancer. A representative for the Coastal South Carolina Oncology Nursing Society will speak as well. The “Touchdown Concert” will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will feature Jay Kennedy, who is #3 on Billboard‘s Blues chart, along with other amazing and talented local performers. This concert, spotlighting many rising stars of The Grand Strand ages 12 through 17, provides a medium to showcase and further develop their talent. The concert will close out with the exciting Elvis Tribute Artist, Alex Mitchell.
