Smith, Evelyn

Evelyn McCormick Smith, age 82, of Lumberton, NC died on Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 9, 1928 to the late Fred and Ida Foley McCormick. She previously worked as a switchboard operator for Robeson County and a lifelong member of East Lumberton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace M. Smith and a daughter, Bobbie Brim. Mrs. Smith is survived by her three sons, Reggie Smith and wife Brenda, Dwayne Smith and wife Sarah and Jerry Smith all of Lumberton, NC; a daughter, Dorothy Kinnaman and husband Bruce of Morehead City, NC; a son-in-law, Bronson Brim of Rockingham, NC; a brother, Raeford McCormick of TX; and a sister, Lucille Rushing of Florence, SC; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Smith Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. Leroy Burke officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday evening, July 7, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton and at other times at 401 W. 33rd Street in Lumberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358 or East Lumberton Baptist Church, 201 Old Whiteville Road, Lumberton, NC 28358.
