Brown, Mae Weatherford Hyman

Mae Weatherford Hyman Brown, 89, of Florence, S.C. died peacefully at her home on June 23, 2011. Born in Florence County on November 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Melvin A. Weatherford and Clara Moore Weatherford. She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church Sunday school class, where she was very active for many years. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her parents, husbands, David P. Hyman and Joe E. Brown, Sr., a son, Rev. Herman A. Hyman, three brothers, Pete, Norman and Marquette Weatherford; three sisters, Lucille Thornton, Arrow Vee Collins and Faye Munn. She is survived by two sons, Melvin A. Hyman of Indiana; Joseph E. Brown, Jr. of Florence, S.C.; one daughter, Shirley Hyman (Tommy) Kennedy of Florence, S.C.; one brother, Ray Weatherford of Lugoff, S.C.; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Cain Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, June 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Cain Funeral Home. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, S.C., 29202, The Florence County Humane Society, or a charity of one‘s choice. Cain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
