Murdock Jr, Jamie

Judge Murdock died Saturday, December 25, 2010. Born in Augusta, GA, he was a son of Louise Able Murdock and the late Jamie Lee Murdock. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. In 1983, he moved to Hartsville, SC to begin the private practice of law. While practicing law, he served at various times as the Municipal Judge in Hartsville and also the Municipal Judge in Timmonsville. In 1992, he was elected State Family Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. He was currently serving his 4th term. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, the Mid-Carolina Field Trial Club, Hospital Board, Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Board of Visitors for both Presbyterian College and Coker College. He was also the former president of the Darlington County Bar Association and the Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Rainey Rector Murdock of Hartsville, SC; sons, Jamie Rector Murdock of Columbia, SC, Jason Daniel (Jordan) Murdock of Hartsville, SC; mother of Anderson, SC; sister, Janice (Wally) Murdock Weir of Vero Beach, FL; grandson, Jayden Lee Murdock. Funeral services for The Honorable Jamie “Jim” Lee Murdock, Jr., 58, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The Rev. Phil Thrailkill will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, December 27, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
