LAKE CITY: Mr. Ernest A. Moore, 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, December 27th, 2010 after a long illness. Mr. Moore was born in Sumter on October 14th, 1921. He was a son of the late A.C. Moore, Sr. and the late Katie Bradford Moore, and was the husband of Joan Stauffer Moore. Mr. Moore finished Lake City High School, graduated from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity of the RHO Chapter and received a degree in Business/Accounting. He was a member of the United States Army during World War II where he served in the European Theatre and was discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. Lee Flowers for twenty years, and for Lake City Ford Tractor for thirty years, was Chairman of the Lake City Housing Authority in the 1970‘s, and was a continuous member of the American Legion for over fifty years. He was very loving, caring, and generous to whomever he would meet. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, but they are glad to know he went peacefully, and now is with the Lord. The family would like to give a special “thank-you” to Southland Healthcare Center in Florence for all the care and compassion shown to Mr. Moore in his times of need.
