Free Swimming Lessons

The City of Darlington will offer free swimming lessons June 23 through June 26 (with Friday as a rain date), from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the pool. Gandy Pool Opening

The City of Darlington will open the Gandy Pool for the season on Saturday, June 7. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, on Tuesdays through Saturdays at 115 Gary St. The pool is open to the public, and the cost is $1 for the day.

Memorial Day Tribute and Documentary Film

Everyone is invited to the Grand 14 Cinemas at The Market Common at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day Tribute. This free event includes recognition of the military and a screening of “Lions in Blue & Gray: Joshua Chamberlin and Stonewall Jackson,” a documentary film. Popcorn and soda will be served, courtesy of the theatre.

Sign up now for this 5K Run/Walk on Ocean Boulevard and the Boardwalk! The race begins at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, at Plyler Park. It’s free for active duty, reserves and veterans, or $20 for civilians.

The Ocean Boulevard Memorial Day Weekend Parade

The Ocean Boulevard Memorial Day Weekend Parade steps off at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, with Grand Marshal Montel Williams. This well-known talk show host spent 15 years in the military, then went on to a national television career. The parade begins at 27th Avenue North and runs to Ninth Avenue North.
