One man died after suffering a medical emergency while swimming in Surfside Beach. 70-year-old Alton Fonville Jr. was pulled from the water near 16th Avenue North. He was transported to a hospital where he later died. It was confirmed that Fonville was vacationing in the area from West Chester, Ohio.
