The block party was advertised through social media, but no permit was issued nor had streets been blocked off which meant officials were unaware of the event.

Coroner Identifies Inmate That Died At J. Reuben Long

No foul play is suspected at this time, but in accordance with detention center protocol, SLED is investigating.

An inmate at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center was discovered unresponsive in his cell and was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
