A study out this month takes a look at those words. These are the ones folks use the most to do that:  articulate, ambiguous, aesthetic. The study found it most often works.   But there are downsides to showing off your vocabulary. In the same study, using too much jargon can make you seem like you’re trying too hard and even pretentious. That same study found that 43% are judging you when they hear these words. faux pas, audacious, caveat, bonafide, chic.
