Former Nevada Senator Harry Reid Dies At Age 82

Longtime Nevada senator Harry Reid has died at the age of 82. According to a statement from his wife Landra, he died ‘peacefully surrounded by family following a courageous four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.’ Reid was the most powerful politician in Nevada history and capped off his political career as the Democratic leader in the senate which included eight years in the majority. President Biden issued a statement yesterday calling Reid one of the ‘all-time great senate majority leaders in our history.’ Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer called him his ‘leader, mentor and dearest friend.’ Former President Barack Obama also released a letter he wrote to Reid before his death saying “I wouldn’t have been President had it not been for your encouragement and support”.
