House of Representatives Votes to Award Congressional Gold Medals to Service Members Killed in Kabul
Yesterday the House of Representatives voted unanimously to honor 13 service members killed in the August terrorist attacks in Kabul with congressional gold medals. According to the bill the “American service members went above and beyond the call of duty to protect citizens of the United States and our allies to ensure they are brought to safety in an extremely dangerous situation as the Taliban regained control over Afghanistan.”
The service members were among dozens who lost their lives in the suicide bombings outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 26th as the United States tried to evacuate it’s citizens and Afghan allies from the country following the Taliban’s takeover. The bill will head to the Senate for approval before reaching President Biden’s desk for signature.
