CDC Endorses Modera, Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 Booster Vaccines
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky endorsed recommendations for booster doses of the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccines yesterday. Walensky also endorsed the mix-and-match approach to boosters and said that eligible people could choose whichever vaccine they wished as a booster. The CDC also realigned it’s recommendation for the existing Pfizer booster and placed the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines in the same category.
The groups that are eligible to receive a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series include those 65 years and older, ages 18 and older who live in long-term care settings, ages 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions and those ages 18 and older who work or live in high-risk settings. For those who got the single dose Johnson and Johnson shot, booster shots are recommended for those who are 28 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.
