White House Unveils Plan to Vaccinate Children 5 to 11 Pending FDA Approval

The US Food and Drug Administration is planning on allowing Americans to receive a different Covid-19 vaccine for their booster shot than their original doses. According to sources. the FDA is expected to make a broad authorization on ‘mixing and matching’ potentially as soon as this week. In other Coronavirus news, this morning the White House unveiled its plans to roll out Covid-19 vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 pending approval from the FDA. The administration has secured enough doses to vaccinate 28 million children who would be eligible for vaccination.

It will help equip more than 25,000 pediatric and primary care offices, hundreds of community health centers and rural health clinics along with pharmacies to administer the shots. The administration is also launching a partnership with the Children’s Hospital Association to work with over 100 children’s hospitals on setting up vaccination sites in November through the remainder of the calendar year. They also plan to help make vaccinations available at schools and other community based sites with help from FEMA funding.
