FDA Vaccine Advisers Meet to Discuss Covid-19 Boosters
Vaccine advisers with the US Food and Drug Administration are meeting today and tomorrow to discuss the next round of questions about Covid-19 booster vaccines. Today, they’ll focus on Moderna’s application to add a booster dose to their two-dose vaccine schedule. Tomorrow’s hearing will be centered around Johnson & Johnson’s request for the booster. Once those two topics are discussed and questions have been decided upon, members of the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee will turn to ‘mix and match’ boosters.
Dr. Angela Branche an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine said “we first started off looking at people who have previously received Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer and boosting those with an additional dose of Moderna vaccine,” they’ve also given volunteers Pfizer’s and Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine boosters as well.
