Trump’s Lawyer Sends Letter to Allies Who Were Issued Subpoenas

Yesterday former President Trump indicated that he will try to assert executive privilege to prevent the house committee investigating the January 6th insurrection from obtaining information from certain witnesses. A source familiar with the matter confirmed that an attorney for Trump sent letters to some of the subpoena targets to inform them of his plan to defend executive privilege. In a statement Director of Communications for Save America and Trump Taylor Budowich said  “executive privilege will be defended, not just on behalf of President Trump and his administration, but also on behalf of the office of the president of the United States and the future of our nation.”

The letter was sent to former Trump adviser Dan Scavino, former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former Adviser Steve Bannon and Kash Patel the former Chief of Staff to Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. The letter instructed the subpoena targets not to comply with congressional investigators but it is up to each witness to decide whether to follow it or not.
