The National Weather Service described the situation as ‘particularly dangerous and according to the National Weather Service, Lake Charles Louisiana was one of the areas hardest hit by the storm, it had reached over 12 inches of rain last night.

Governor John Bel Edwards issued a state of emergency for the southwest part of the state. Numerous cars were stranded and homes experienced flood damage. Several residents in Lake Charles are still rebuilding after Hurricane Laura swept through the area with strong winds in August and Hurricane Delta pelted the area with rain in October. The rain marks the third most rainfall in a single day in the city’s history and more rain fell than during either of the hurricanes in 2020.
