Pfizer Seeking Full Approval of Covid Vaccine

Pfizer has become the first pharmaceutical company to ask the Food and Drug Administration for full approval of its covid vaccine.

Pfizer has become the first pharmaceutical company to ask the Food and Drug Administration for full approval of its covid vaccine. Like Moderna and Johnson and Johnson’s vaccines, Pfizer’s covid shot is currently being administered under emergency use authorization. The CDC says Pfizer has already distributed 132 million doses of its vaccine. Pfizer and BioNTech have asked the FDA for priority review. But, the process’s full approval can only take place after six months of data and usage by the public. At this point, Pfizer is only applying for full approval for people ages 16 and up. The company is also applying to extend its emergency use to include children ages twelve to fifteen. If the FDA approves that request, it would become the first vaccine available to people in that age bracket.
