Three Men Have Been Indicted In The Death Of Ahmaud Arbery
Three men have been indicted on hate crime and kidnapping charges in the death of Ahmaud Arbery. The Department of Justice announced yesterday that prosecutors charged Gregory and Travis McMichael and William ‘Roddie’ Bryan Jr with one count of interference with rights and one count of attempted kidnapping. Travis and Gregory McMichael were charged with one count of using, carrying and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
25 year old Arbery was out for a jog near Brunswick Georgia on February 23 2020 when he was chased down by three men in a truck and fatally shot. Arbery’s mother Wanda Cooper-Jones said “It’s one step closer to justice, they did the investigation properly and they came out with those indictments. So, my family and I were pleased.” Family attorney Ben Crump said the indictments were ‘another step in the right direction.’
