Federal Prosecutors Execute Search Warrant On Rudy Giuliani

Yesterday afternoon, federal agents executed a search warrant on Rudy Guiliani’s Manhattan apartment. The raid was part of an on-going two-year investigation into President Trump’s former lawyer for potential criminal misdoings in relation to his activities in Ukraine. Crimes he’s currently being investigated for include illegal lobbying for Ukrainian officials while he pursued an investigation linked to Trump’s primary political rival. At the moment, Giuliani has not been charged and has so far maintained his innocence.

Seven federal agents searched the home and additional agents were also sent to serve another warrant on his Park Avenue office. Several devices were seized including a computer belonging to Guiliani’s assistant. That same assistant has also received a subpoena to appear before a grand jury next month. The home of a third person, another lawyer and ally to Guiliani, was also searched. While it is unusual for prosecutors to make such a move against a lawyer, it has happened previously, including in the case of Michael Cohen. The White House had no comment other than to say they were not given advanced notice on the warrants.
