3 People Were Killed In A Shooting In Austin Texas Yesterday
3 people are dead and a suspect has apprehended after a shooting in Austin Texas yesterday. Police identified the suspect at 41 year old Stephen Broderick, a former Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detective. He was arrested just after 8 a.m. this morning after two people saw him walking down the road and called police. Austin Police, Fire and EMS were called to the city’s Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway around 11:42 a.m. yesterday, when they arrived they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds including Broderick’s daughter Alyssa Broderick and her boyfriend, Willie Simmons III. According to tweets from Austin-Travis County EMS, the shooting appeared to be a domestic situation that was isolated and the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. During a press briefing, Chacon said “obviously this is a tragedy, we have people who have lost their lives out here. The danger still remains high at this point.” Travis County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kristen Dark said Broderick was previously charged with sexual assault of a child and resigned from the department last year after his arrest on June 6th. He was released on bond the same month. The motive of the shooting is unknown and authorities are investigating.
