Former Office Kim Potter and Police Chief Tim Gannon Resign, Potter Charged

The Brooklyn Center Police Officer who killed Daunte Wright and the Brooklyn Center Police Chief have resigned. Former Officer Kim Potter fatally shot 20 year old Wright during a traffic stop on Sunday when he tried evading Police once they found out he had an outstanding warrant. Potter drew and fired her gun instead of using a taser. Former Police Chief Tim Gannon made the call to release the body camera footage and said he believed Potter intended to reach for her taser but instead grabbed her handgun and categorized the shooting as an ‘accidental discharge.’ Washington County Prosecutor Pete Orput has charged Potter second degree manslaughter. Last night, protesters took to the streets of Brooklyn Center for the third night in a row. Law enforcement made over 60 arrests many of which were for ‘riot and other criminal behaviors’.
