Cargo Ship Freed From Suez Canal

A spokesperson for the Suez Canal Authority has said the cargo ship that was blocking the canal has been fully dislodged. The ‘Ever Given’ was wedged between the two banks of the canal for about a week after being blown by wind while entering from the Red Sea. The rear of the vessel was freed this morning from one of the canal’s banks and tug boats were used to free the bow of the ship soon after. The Suez Canal is one of the world’s busiest trade routes and several companies have had to reroute their ships. An estimated $9.6 billion of goods were being held up each day.
