Today Marks 1 Year Since Coronavirus was Declared a Pandemic

Today marks the one year anniversary of the Covid-19 crisis officially being declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. By March 11th of last year, the world was well aware of the coronavirus but there were still questions surrounding it. What was it? How was it spread? And how could one protect themselves? The full extent of the impact Covid could have on average citizens had not hit yet, but the fear was palpable. In response to such an unprecedented event, countries around the world underwent full blown lockdowns and restrictive safety orders were implemented. Since then, life has dramatically changed as people were forced to find countless new ways to live their lives indoors and in accordance with the rapidly changing world. Globally, 118 million people have contracted the virus and over 2.6 million have died. Nearly 30 million of those cases and over 530,000 deaths came from the U.S. alone. But, even with the numbers still rising, there’s a glimmer of hope. We now have 3 approved vaccines. But who knows what the long term consequences, both mentally and physically, of the pandemic will be?
