Simple Steps That Will Help You Fight Burnout

We all experience burnout at some point in our lives…it’s that point of exhaustion that can make you feel sick. To avoid this happening in the future there are five things you can do. Pinpoint the cause. Maybe it’s being cooped up at home or needing to spend more time with friends you haven’t seen in awhile. Or maybe it’s trying to work from home while taking care of your kids. Once you have a sense of what’s causing the burnout, you can take steps to improve it.
Shake up your routine a little bit. If things are feeling stale, try to incorporate some small changes. For example, if you always make coffee at home, try going out to a get a cup of joe once a week.
Incorporate more enjoyment into your life. If doesn’t have to be something big…just taking a longer and warmer shower in the morning could be enough to get your day started in a more enjoyable way. Or, make more time to read, play with your pets or watch an episode of a funny show.
Make plans for the future. Now that the vaccines are here, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Even though things aren’t back to normal yet, we can start thinking about and planning for what we’ll do when it’s safe again.
Finally, get more rest and that means more than just getting extra sleep. It might mean taking a rest from screens and devices. Or, trying yoga or meditation. Anything that helps you unwind and relax.
