Why You Should Drink Coffee Black
If you love a cup of joe in the morning, you could be helping you heart…as long as your coffee is black and caffeinated.
A new study from the American Heart Association found that drinking one or more cups of black coffee a day was associated with long-term reduced risk of heart failure. Researchers analyzed data from three major studies with more than 21-thousand Americans. They found that caffeine was consistently associated with the reduction of heart failure risk. The opposite was true for decaf. Decaffeinated coffee was associated with an increased risk. The association warns that adding dairy, sugar, and other creamers to coffee could negate any heart-healthy benefits.
