HCPD Officer Awarded for Saving Family From Sinking Vehicle
An Horry County Police officer was honored last night for rescuing a family from a sinking vehicle. On September 17th, James Cannon was driving along Cates Bay Highway and Bunyan Lane when he hydroplaned and crashed into a heavily flooded area. He, along with his wife and eldest son were able to get out of the car, but his other two children were trapped. That was when officer Adam Tack jumped into action, broke the window, and pulled the two children free. The entire family survived and tack only suffered minor injuries. Tack was granted the 10th Annual Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award for his bravery.
