Funeral Takes Place Today for Sgt. Best as Community Looks to Honor his Memory

A fallen North Myrtle Beach Police officer is being honored today. Sergeant Gordon Best died in a car crash on New Years Day while responding to a call. At noon, a funeral procession began at the Goldfinch Funeral Home in Conway. It will end at 2 p.m. at the Alabama Theater. While the public is not allowed in the service, they may set up along the procession’s route to show their support. Governor McMaster has ordered flags statewide be lowered to half staff out of respect. A run and walk event has also been scheduled for the end of the month in Best’s honor.
