VP Pence to Take Coronavirus Vaccine Tomorrow to Boost Public Trust
The U.S. public appears to be torn over whether or not they’ll take the newly FDA approved coronavirus vaccine. Despite obvious excitement over the roll out of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, only about half of the U.S. population says they’re ready to get inoculated today. The other half is hesitant, voicing concerns over the vaccine’s rapid development, effectiveness, and safety. New reports of an Alaskan healthcare worker experiencing an allergic reaction after getting the shot may further contribute to failing trust from the public. In an attempt to abate these fears, Vice President Mike Pence will publicly take the vaccine at the White House tomorrow. He will be joined by his wife and the U.S. surgeon general. Former Presidents Obama, Clinton and Bush have also previously promised to do the same. President-elect Joe Biden has been cleared to get the shot as soon as next week but it’s unclear if President Trump intends to follow suit. This all comes as the FDA is set to approve a second Covid vaccine as early as today.
