Biden Coordinates Covid Response Despite Resistance From Trump Administration
President-elect Joe Biden is attempting to coordinate a Covid-19 response as the rate of infections worsen nationwide. He has already assembled a task force meant to take on the pandemic. It was the first order of business he sought after he was named the projected winner of the election over a week ago. Their hope is to slow the spread by targeting high-impacted areas, but they’re main focus is on the development and distribution of a vaccine. However, President Trump’s refusal to concede may seriously impede this process. Getting a vaccine to over 300 million Americans is a “huge undertaking” that requires months of planning and coordination. Without the official ascertainment papers, which would allow them to receive key intelligence information, the Biden team cannot start their work until January 20th, putting them over a month behind schedule. But it appears they’ve found a way to circumvent the president and his administration by meeting with diplomatic, intelligence and defense experts instead. Their first unofficial intelligence briefing is set for today.
