Steve Bannon’s Twitter Account Permanently Banned for Violating Policies
The fight between social media and censorship continues with new developments. Twitter has now permanently suspended Steve Bannon’s account. They have been criticized for flagging President Trump’s posts in recent days and now they’ve blocked the former white house chief strategist after he suggested yesterday that Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI Director Christopher Wray should be beheaded. Bannon also further reiterated false claims that President Trump won the election. He made the statement in a video which was posted to his Twitter, as well as his YouTube and Facebook accounts. Hours after going up, it was removed over their violence and incitement policies. Bannon’s account was then permanently removed from Twitter. This comes as big tech companies continue their fight with Congress over censorship and spread of misinformation. Last night, Facebook announced they would provide “reliable information” across it’s platforms once multiple news sources project a presidential winner. They’ve also blocked the hash tags ‘stop the steal’ and ‘sharpie gate’ amid the ongoing election count.
