Public Feud Between President Trump, Dr. Fauci Continues to Escalate
President Trump had some strong things to say about Dr. Anthony Fauci after the airing of Fauci’s ’60 Minutes’ interview. Preceding the interview, the president released a campaign ad featuring footage of Fauci that appeared to show him praising Trump’s Covid-19 response. Fauci was quick to respond, accusing the Trump campaign of harassment. He said they were not authorized to use his words and that they were taken out of context. He added during his nearly 5 decades working in public service he has never endorsed a political candidate. During the ’60 Minutes’ interview, Fauci was again extremely critical of the president, saying he wasn’t surprised to learn he contracted Covid-19 seeing as he often ignored CDC guidelines. Then yesterday, the president offered more searing remarks, calling Fauci a “disaster” and an “idiot,” as well as claiming Fauci’s safety guidance was wrong. He added that every time Fauci goes on air there’s a “bomb”. But the president hasn’t fired him yet because that would create an “even bigger bomb.”
