New Details Revealed in Connection to Fatal Shooting of MBPD Officer

Some more information has been revealed in connection to this weekend’s shooting that claimed the life of a Myrtle Beach Police Officer. According to Kyle Clark, the owner of the apartment building where the incident broke out, his tenant was the girlfriend of the now deceased suspect, 20-year-old John Derek Aycoth. The two had been living together for about two months. The dispute officers responded to apparently occurred after the girlfriend attempted to break up with Aycoth and kick him out of the home. It’s believed upon the arrival of authorities, Aycoth became distraught and began firing at them, killing Officer Jacob Hancher and injuring another officer.
