Hostage Situation in Salem, Oregon Ends In Multiple Fatalities
Multiple people are dead after a hostage situation in Salem, Oregon yesterday afternoon. Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible hostage situation. A trained negotiator was also on scene and they attempted to speak with the suspect until shots were fired. Multiple people, including the suspect, were killed as a result. It’s unclear as of now how many victims there were, their ages, their relation to the shooter, or the shooter’s motives. Officers did return fire, however none of them were harmed. Those involved will be placed on administrative leaving pending a full investigation. That’s being led by the Oregon State Police, which is normal for any deputy involved shooting for the Sheriff’s Office. It’s reported there is no longer a threat to the Salem area, which is 45 miles southwest of Portland.
