Reward Offered in Search for Suspect Who Shot LA Officers Inside Patrol Car
Two California Sheriff’s Deputies are fighting for their lives after being “ambushed” while in their patrol car. The 31-year-old female and a 24-year-old male had been on the force less than 14 months. They were sitting inside their vehicle at a Metro rail station in Compton Saturday evening when a suspect wearing dark clothing approached the car from the passenger side and opened fire into the window, completely unprovoked. While the suspect ran away, one of the officers was able to call for help. Both were transported to a hospital and are now in recovery following surgery. The sheriff said “We’ll see what the long-term impact is. We don’t know that yet, but they survived the worst.” A major manhunt is now underway in the city for the suspect who has only been described as a “dark-skinned male” by the sheriff’s office. A $100,000 reward has also been announced for anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
