CDC Advises States to Stand-by for Distribution of Covid-19 Vaccine Soon

The CDC is now warning states to brace themselves for the distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine as soon as next month! In a series of documents released yesterday, the organization advised public health officials nationwide on how to tackle the issue using two possible vaccines when supplies are expected to be limited. It also suggests who should be vaccinated first. This includes healthcare professionals, essential workers, national security “populations” and long-term care facility residents and staff. While this sounds like amazing news, the CDC was quick to add there may not be a vaccine ready by late October and that these are just “hypothetical scenarios” or training exercises. The new warning is instead meant to prepare states on numerous levels for when a vaccine does become readily available. CDC Director Robert Redfield believes that will most realistically be in November or December.
