House Democrats Unveil $25 Billion USPS Legislation Proposal
House Democrats have officially unveiled a $25 billion U.S. Postal Service proposal which they plan to vote on this Saturday.
The six-paged bill titled the “Delivering for America Act” not only prohibits but would reverse all operational changes made this year that could undermine the service. It also considers election mail to be “first-class mail” and would allocate them the $25 billion they so desperately need. As of now, the proposed legislation has 200 co-sponsors. Meanwhile, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is attempting to subdue public outrage. He has temporarily halted all changes and hired a PR firm to help convince citizens that this year’s election hasn’t been compromised. However, his efforts may be threatened by President Trump’s recent lawsuit against the state of New Jersey over their decision to implement a hybrid voting model this November. DeJoy still also has to testify in two congressional hearings tomorrow and Monday and his performance could have major impacts.
