Oregon Protesters Suing Trump Administration Over Use of Federal Troops

The unruly protests in Oregon have now entered their sixty-first continuous day. While the majority of unrest has been reported in Portland, smaller towns outside the city are now also experiencing these protests and even incidents of rioting. It’s believed over the weekend in at least one town named Eugene, hundreds gathered at a county jail and federal courthouse and fired off fireworks before attacking businesses in the downtown area where employees were still trapped inside. Meanwhile, protesters in Portland are now suing the Trump Administration. They believe their response to send in militarized federal troops was “out of control” and in violation of the constitution. They argue they have gone far beyond simply protecting property. This includes their use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bang grenades at crowds in order to suppress protests. Unfortunately for them, it’s reported the federal troops will remain in Portland for the time being and more officers may be deployed.
