Yesterday’s Lightning Storm Caused Power Outages, Fires

The storm that blew through Horry County yesterday evening caused quite a lot of damage. To start, it’s reported thousands of residents were left without power across the county. Furthermore, it’s believed lightning may have struck five different houses. Not all the reported cases have been verified, but Horry County Fire Rescue Crews are responding to each one. There have not been any injuries reported as a result, but at least five people were displaced from their home in the 700 block of Churchill Downs after the structure caught fire.
