Videos of Police, Protesters Walking Together Peacefully Gives Sense of Hope
Despite all the destruction, chaos, and unrest in the U.S. we are still seeing images and videos of hope. In Camden County, New Jersey, known to be the state’s most violent, the police are being praised. Chief Joe Wysocki and his force walked with a crowd of protesters, carrying signs and chanting. The march reportedly ended without incident. Wysocki said, “We know that together we are stronger, we know that together, in the city of Camden, we can create a space where policing is focused on deescalation and dialogue.”
They were not the only force to do so. In Genesee County, Michigan, Sheriff Christopher Swanson told the crowd he had laid down his weapons and armor and would march with them, too. In a video that has since gone viral, he said “I want to make this a parade, not a protest.” Swanson said as a result of the force’s support, no arrests, no fires, and no injuries have been reported in their county.
