Myrtle Beach Police Share Plans to Keep Memorial Day Weekend Safe

The loop is back! Myrtle Beach police have announced a three-part traffic plan in anticipation for this weekend. Part one includes control devices staged at various intersections that a team of officers will utilize to divert traffic if needed. For part two, South Carolina Highway Patrol will monitor intersections at peak times and step in to direct traffic if needed. Finally, southbound travel will only be allowed on Ocean Boulevard beginning tomorrow morning at 6 AM. Pedestrian barricades will also be placed along Ocean Boulevard to encourage use of crosswalks. Finally, the MBPD has discussed plans to keep people safe this weekend from crime but this hasn’t stopped over 800 locals from signing the petition to “Clean Up Myrtle Beach“. They still believe not enough is being done.
