Horry County 2020-21 Budget Cut by About $22 Million Due to Pandemic

The Horry County 2020-2021 budget has been significantly reduced due to the pandemic. Next year’s proposed budget went from about $481 million to about $459 million. That $22 million drop was approved in a 10-2 council vote and will mostly impact and delay the terminal expansion project at Myrtle Beach International Airport. The official budget must be reviewed a third time before final approval. The county is seeking additional federal aid through the CARES Act in the amount of $24 million dollars for pandemic relief.
