Johnson & Johnson Announce Discontinuation of Talc-Based Baby Powder

Johnson & Johnson have announced they will stop selling talc-based baby powder. It’s a product they’re most known for and have sold for over 100 years. This comes following tens of thousands of lawsuits filed over the years by women who developed ovarian cancer and blamed the reason on their regular use of their talcum powder. The company continues to deny any claims their products can cause cancer. They will be discontinuing those products to the U.S. and Canada due to a decline in demand and restrictions presented by the pandemic. Some studies have suggested women were at more risk of developing ovarian cancer if they used the talc based products. Other studies have said there is no correlation between the two. There is still more research needed. All this also comes after trace amounts of asbestos was found in some of their products which led to another series of lawsuits tied to mesothelioma.
