Top Health Officials Self-Isolate After Potential Exposure to COVID-19
The number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. has surpassed 1.3 million with over 80,000 deaths. A new model from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington has increased their death predictions yet again. Researchers say as a result of states reopening too fast too soon, we could see around 137,000 lives lost by early August. Last week, about 40 states had begun to reopen and by the end of this week almost every U.S. state will have begun relaxing restrictions. Meanwhile, the growing list of top officials who may be infected by the coronavirus grows. Dr. Anthony Fauci has entered a “modified quarantine” after he was potentially exposed to a COVID-19 carrier. Furthermore, Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Dr. Robert Redfield and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn are also self-isolating for similar reasons.
