Wendy’s Restaurants Report Shortages of Beef During Pandemic

Wendy’s’ recent meat shortages has customers asking the chain’s famed slogan “Where’s the beef?” Due to meat packing plants closing over COVID-19 outbreaks, analysts predict around 1 in 5 Wendy’s restaurants are entirely out of beef. This was then confirmed by a spokesperson for the chain who said due to “production challenges” they are not able to offer their full menu at some restaurants. They did also add, “We expect this to be temporary, and we’re working diligently to minimize the impact to our customers and restaurants.” Wendy’s is not the only restaurant facing these issues. However, they are more vulnerable to the shortages because they heavily rely on fresh beef as opposed to some other competitors. McDonald’s CEO said they haven’t experienced a “single supply chain break” and Burger King has not yet made an official comment.
