There Are People Recovering From COVID-19

With nearly 186,000 cases and over 44,000 deaths worldwide, it’s hard to remember people are actually recovering from this. At the moment, over 185,000 people across the globe have recovered from the virus. One case reported was that of a 103-year-old woman from Wuhan, China where the outbreak began. Zhang Guangfen beat all odds after being hospitalized for six days. She was released a couple weeks ago and is the oldest patient in China to recover, beating the previous record holder who was 101-years-old. Furthermore, it’s been reported by health officials that those who contracted and survived COVID-19 are unlikely to get it again anytime soon. Anti-bodies created in your bloodstream while you’re infected help protect you from getting sick again. However, this is not long-lasting. Professor Frances Lund of the department of microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham estimates “you will have immunity for the rest of this season.”
